Picture Perfect Save the Date

photo save the date

We see a variety of save the date styles come through our shop, but some of our favorites include a snapshot of the bride and groom to be. Using a photo from your engagement session is a great way to personalize your save the date and make it completely your own. Take a peek at some of the different ways we have printed these type of save the dates below!

Kelsey and Mark decided to go for a dramatic black and white photo that covered the entirety of their save the date with a splash of Gold Matte foil for an added wow factor.  They also decided to add a botanical cartouche that held their monogram which can be easily carried over to other paper goods likes invitations and day of pieces for consistency.  Save the dates are also a great place to include any website information so that your guests can get a sneak peek of what’s to come! We’re so glad we got the chance to work with Jenny’s Paper, Ink to make this save the date come to life.

Martha and AJ’s Pawley’s Island wedding was announced using a save the date with a mint watercolor pattern, gold foil wording justified to the right, and their photo perfectly framed to the left. This sweet save the date set the tone for their spring affair and it couldn’t have come together without the help of our friends at Just Paper and Tea.

Thanks to the help of  The Write Touch, this Florida couple opted for an oversized save the date with sprawling Gold Matte foil text displayed across their photo. The bright pink from the bride to be’s dress gave this save the date an extra punch of unexpected color. They paired their save the date with our Pearl pattern envelope liner for a final touch of playfulness.

Festive letterpress holiday cards with a traditional touch

Nothing says it’s the holidays again quite like seeing a big evergreen sitting atop of cars zooming down the road. These festive letterpress holiday cards are a perfect fit for a more traditional greeting. The Lucas family chose to print our seasonal Wagon design in Coral and Olive letterpress colors, inks that compliment each other beautifully, especially during this time of year. To top it off, a photo featuring nothing but big smiles beaming back at their friends and family made for a cheerful finishing touch.

Custom venue-inspired wedding invitations and save the dates

It’s always fun to see the finishing touches that our clients make when it comes to their wedding invitations and save the dates. For Chelsea and JohnMichael’s May wedding at The Hempstead House, we worked with Jill from Jilly P Invitations & Gifts to create a set of custom, venue-inspired wedding invitations and save the dates. Jill shared some background with us on the inspiration for this suite – we’ll let her take it from here!

Whenever I work with a customer, my goal is to always make their dreams become a reality. For this invitation, the bride wanted a drawing of the castle where the event was being held. So as to hint at the incredible night ahead, we first used a hand drawn image of the castle on the save the date. As we continued the process, we then included the castle design on the direction card in the pocketfold invitation, and to tie it all together, we designed a beautiful stamp incorporating the castle. In finalizing the entire package, we added a wax seal on the back of the envelope with the bride and groom’s initials as a perfect finishing touch for what will be the most magical night of their lives.

Painterly rose gold birth announcements

We worked with our friends at Fat Cat Paperie to create Clio’s painterly rose gold birth announcements and coordinating envelope liners. Her parents drew inspiration from our Ellory invitation suite to create the cards, which paired a digitally printed watercolor wash with our rose gold foil. What a sweet way to welcome a new baby!

Harbour Island Wedding in the Bahamas

Melissa and John worked with Colin at Pulp & Ink for their wedding invitations and stationery for their fairytale wedding in the Bahamas. The couple selected our ombre Amira suite and personalized each piece in the same shade of pink that the bride chose for her custom Vera Wang wedding gown. Read on for their beautiful love story!

John Jacobs and Melissa Posh first met on June 9, 1994 at a party at Lake Point Towers. John, having just had shoulder surgery, was on major pain relief medication, causing his sense for adventure to be higher than usual. Melissa walked in, John approached, words were exchanged, and chemistry began to operate. For John it was ignited by Melissa’s spark of contagious energy and for Melissa, it was the aura of excitement and wit that attracted her. In a matter of minutes a romance had begun that culminated 22 years later in a fairy tale wedding for the ages.

John is a conservative wealth manager for the Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS) and Melissa is an entrepreneur in the food, fitness and fashion arenas. Although on paper, they were exact opposites, we all have heard the old saying “Opposites attract”. The twenty-two years seemed to fly by and there was never a day that Melissa did not get excited when John walked through their door at night.

Their high rise home looked over Lake Michigan and it kept them in touch with their mutual love for the water. John had many hobbies: he was a pilot, an artist, a reader and musician with interests in the guitar and the piano.  Melissa was a creative type. She loved to exercise, run marathons, practice yoga, bake and cook, shop for fashions and always seemed to find the perfect gift to give to a friend or member of her large family. She was also an event planner, organizing a golf outing in honor of her father, Ed Posh, who was the head golf professional for 37 years. The event has raised over $700,000 for college scholarships for local area youth.

Most of all both Melissa and John were in love with deep-sea fishing and spent myriad hours cruising and fishing in the Caribbean waters.  John had bought a large fishing yacht naturally christened  “The Melissa”.  One of their first marine adventures was a trip to Harbour Island in the Bahamas. It was “Love at first Docking”. The island offered fantastic fishing for John and a three mile long pink sand beach for Melissa. You could even ride horses on the sand. The island was a match made in island heaven. It offered first class gourmet restaurants, fabulous libations, a sprinkling of beautiful boutiques, and it was small and intimate to boot. It was enough to keep them and John’s two children, JR and Lindsay, as well as several of their friends, family and clients coming back year after year.

On June 5th, 2015, twenty-one years after their first meeting, John flew Melissa down to the Island.  By now he had his own plane. He’d made a reservation at their favorite restaurant, The Rock House, and over the course of the evening actually got down on one knee and proposed. I bet none of you are scratching your heads over her immediate response.

Sutherlin save the dates + foil stamped wedding invitations inspired by The Baby Doll House

Magan and Keith celebrated their November wedding at the iconic Baby Doll House in Benoit, Mississippi. Their save the dates and invitations provided a glimpse of the venue for guests through a gorgeous watercolor depiction of the Greek Revival style mansion. We combined letterpress and digital printing for the save the dates, pairing them with metallic camel envelope liners. For their Sutherlin wedding invitations, the watercolor artwork was featured again, but this time on the digitally printed inner envelope liners. Tawny matte foil stamping was used on their classic invitations, direction cards, and reception cards, which also included our Sutherlin pattern.

Custom hazel wedding invitations

We worked with Kara at Nest Paper Studio to create these custom wedding invitations for a November celebration at the Annesdale Mansion in Memphis, Tennessee. In order to create a thick, 2-ply piece, we digitally printed both pieces of the invitation in a flood of hazel ink, then duplexed the two pieces together. The invitations feature our popular tawny matte foil stamping for both the text and the edge treatment, adding a sophisticated metallic touch. A hazel watercolor envelope liner tied the entire set together, which set the tone for this elegant fall affair.
