Save the date! Our 2016 Sidewalk Sale will take place on Thursday, August 18th from 10am-5pm and Friday, August 19th from 8am-4pm. Letterpress cards, calendars, art prints, gift wrap, keepsake boxes, and other stationery goods that are all made right here in Central New York will be available for sale at deeply discounted prices. We’ll also be offering a carnival-style prize wheel — for $1 each, you can spin the  wheel for a chance to win prizes ranging from free cards and notebooks to Smock gift cards — with all proceeds benefitting Onondaga Earth Corps, a local organization dedicated to empowering area youth through urban forestry projects.

One of our favorites parts of the Sidewalk Sale? The food trucks! PB&J’s Lunchbox and Gannon’s Ice Cream will be joining us again for lunch on both days of the sale (and PB&J’s will be serving up breakfast Friday, too!). Toss ‘n’ Fire Pizza will also be at the sale on Thursday, and Cafe Kubal and the Salt City Food Truck will at the sale on Friday. The 2010 Letterpress Open Studio Event

A few weeks back we hosted a really fun open studio here at our Syracuse, New York print shop and we decked the place out in all of our Smock finery. We thought you’d like to take a look! We invited the local public, media, clients, vendors, friends, family and anyone with an interest or passion for printing and the arts to come pay us a visit. In return, we had printing demonstrations, tours, giveaways, an excess of sweets and goodies from a local bake shop and loads of letterpress fun. The Smock team came together to craft DIY paper chain garlands for the Christmas tree and we strung colorful paper bunting from the cross beams in our cool industrial office space, all of which were created from our gift wrap. For the first time ever we set up a little retail shop for Smock Everyday here at the studio and had more fun than you know introducing local friends to our greeting cards, gift wrap, gift boxes, and paper goods.

All told we had over 300 people come out to pay us a visit! It blew us away and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome everyone back again next year. Huge thanks to our friend and local wedding photographer Alice G. Patterson for capturing these special moments for us. We are honored to have the friends that we do and we look forward to making this an annual event. Stay tuned for 2011!

New York International Gift Fair – A Recap

Last week our Smock team temporarily relocated to New York City and the Jacob Javits Center where we attended the New York International Gift Fair for the first time. Now that we’re back in Syracuse, we thought we’d share a behind the scenes look at the setup of our booth and the final result, including a sneak peek at some of our newest eco paper goods and stationery!

When you show up at Javits, this is what you show up to – a blank space with bare floors and a sign declaring the space as yours. In our case, the sign was crooked and hanging by a thread. No worries! We had a plan.

We ship everything to New York in two large freight crates. Then begins the task of unpacking, laying down flooring, putting up walls and assembling furniture and shelving.

After many hours of work, we finally started unwrapping product to place in the booth. We merchandise the booth the way we envision merchandising an awesome store filled with nothing but Smock goods. (Now that would be a cool store!)

Once everything is in place twelve hours later, we’re left with a booth that looks a little like this…

So there you have it! Check out our newest eco paper goods (including new gift boxes, sticky notes, gift wrap and gift bags!) and thanks to everyone who stopped by to visit us at NYIGF last week!

Live from NYIGF

Many long but fun hours later, we’ve finally wrapped up setup on our first ever New York International Gift Fair booth! Tomorrow through Thursday, you can find us in booth 7555 at the Jacob Javits center showing off all of our favorite paper goods and stationery. If you’re attending the show we do hope you’ll stop by and say hi. We’ll be blogging and tweeting throughout the week so stay tuned for more from New York!

Feeling the National Stationery Show Love

Wow! It’s hard to believe it but the 2010 National Stationery Show has already come and gone – and we had an amazing time! Thank you to all of our friends, old and new, who stopped by to visit us, check out our new products and share your love of paper goods with the Smock team. Getting to spend time with people who love stationery as much as we do is undeniably our favorite part of attending the show! Luckily for us, our friend Missy (the incredibly talented namesake of Missy Photography) paid our booth a visit and shared these gorgeous photos with us so before we spend the weekend getting some much-needed rest, we wanted to share them with you. (Look closely and you’ll see lots of gorgeous new designs coming soon from Smock!) Thanks, Missy!

Our favorite Smock toddler even dropped by for a visit, definitely a highlight of the show for us…

Visit Us at the National Stationery Show – Calligraphy with Debi Zeinert!

We can hardly believe it, but it’s true – the 2010 National Stationery Show kicks off later this morning! For those of you attending the show, we’d love to have you come visit us in booth 2241 where we’ll be spreading our love for stylish eco letterpress stationery and paper goods. We’re excited to announce that Smock’s calligrapher, Debi Zeinert of The Blooming Quill, will once again be joining us at the show offering complimentary calligraphy for visitors to our Smock booth. You can catch her from 9am to 6pm today and again from 11am – 2pm tomorrow and 10am to 1pm on Tuesday. Be sure to stop by and say hello!

And just to get you good and excited, here’s a little sneak peek at our booth (and all of our beautiful new products we absolutely adore) from setup yesterday –

Smock at the 2010 National Stationery Show! (Booth 2241)

Things have been a little quiet around here in recent weeks as we’ve been busy preparing for the National Stationery Show. But don’t worry, there’s good reason. New at the show, we’re introducing our largest Everyday release yet! Letterpress notepads, notebooks, keepsake gift boxes, gift bags, sticky note squares, new gift wrap, new letterpress greeting cards, new offset cards, holiday, and more. And all of it eco, of course, featuring either our bamboo paper or our 100% post-consumer recycled paper. Our new FSC certified lokta paper gift bags are truly one of a kind, made by a really cool community-owned group in Nepal dedicated to sustainable forestry. We have so much to share with you in the coming weeks – stay tuned! While we’re away, you can follow along with all the fun here and on Twitter.
