Get a jump start on your gift wrapping this holiday season!
Join us on Thursday, November 30th from 5pm to 8pm for a gift wrapping workshop. The class is $30 per person and includes gift wrapping supplies for 3 medium sized gifts. You bring ready-to-wrap gifts, and we’ll show you different wrapping techniques (like how to make an invisible seam and cute gift toppers). We’ll also help you find the perfect ribbon pairing for your gifts. The class will be held at our studios at 509 West Fayette Street in Syracuse.
All proceeds from the workshop will be donated to our friends at Onondaga Earth Corps. Light refreshments will be served.
You’ll have the opportunity to stock up on additional gift wrapping essentials during the event as well.

We recently held a gift wrapping workshop here at our Syracuse print shop in collaboration with our friends at May Arts Ribbon. Each attendee learned how to get the perfect gift wrapping measurements, how to make an invisible seam, and how to put together some really cute gift toppers. In addition the gift toppers, guests were able to dress up their gifts with some festive, holiday-themed May Arts ribbons — we came up with so many fun wrap pairings! Take a peek at the event and some of the final wrapped presents below. You’ll even catch a sneak peek at some of our brand new gift wraps that will soon be available!
Last weekend we kicked off the holiday season with a 2-day holiday shopping event complete with crafting and calligraphy workshops at our studio here in Syracuse, New York. In-house designer Jessica Downs (creative lead for our sister company Bella Figura) hand lettered a huge chalkboard sign complete with Bayberry inspired greenery to welcome shoppers to the event.
We had so much fun hosting NYC-based calligrapher Virginia Lucas Hart, who taught an intro to modern calligraphy course on each day of the event. Each guest received a personalized calligraphy starter kit during the course, which included two hours of instruction. We loved seeing how many people were inspired to learn this beautiful art form!
During the event, shoppers stopped in to stock up on holiday cards, gift wrap, gift boxes and more – and many took home limited-edition calendars! The calendars feature Virginia Hart’s hand calligraphy, and pair letterpress printing with digital printing in the loveliest shades of blue. Our in-house crafting expert Jennifer DeRoberts taught wreath-making workshops throughout the weekend as well, showing attendees how to craft festive paper wreaths with upcycled, die-cut leaves made from our gift wrap and excess envelope liners from custom orders (we loved seeing foil liners sprinkled in throughout the wreath designs!).

We were excited to spot our double-sided Bayberry gift wrap in the September 2016 issue of Gifts and Decorative Accessories Magazine. The feature was all about gift wrapping, and making the exterior of your gift look just as special as what’s inside. Our double-sided gift wraps make it easy to dress up a gift – use the alternating patterns on a gift with multiple boxes, or use a strip of the opposite side of the wrap like ribbon as a finishing touch. We always love spotting our products on the pages of our favorite magazines! Smock’s been getting some love from HGTV Magazine as well as Woman’s Day and Celebrate. In the April 2016 issue of Woman’s Day, our medium Chartreuse boxes were featured in an article all about getting your home organized as the perfect vessel for mail (and if company comes before you’re ready, just pop on the lid to hide the mess!).
HGTV Magazine has also featured Smock in some recent issues! They used several of our patterned gift wraps in their December 2015 holiday issue about stylish new color combos (recreate the looks with our Dots, Turk, and Shimmer gift wraps). And the September 2015 issue of HGTV featured our wraps right on the cover! They created easy little makeovers by covering magazine holders and boxes with some of our wrap to create cute new office organization tools (for this story, they used our Indigo and Keiko wraps).
Celebrate Magazine also included us in their holiday issue, with lots of cute DIY ideas featuring our cards! They created festive garland, ceramic holiday coasters, and DIY gift toppers by repurposing our Lights Cheer, Love & Joy, Peace on Earth, and Branch Crest cards. Many thanks to all three publications for featuring Smock!
Family Fun magazine featured our gift wrap and keepsake boxes in their latest issue! The December / January 2016 issue of Family Fun includes a spread with ideas for cute holiday gifts kids can make, including framed artwork packaged in our festive Candy Stripe boxes, and personalized journals wrapped in our Sterling gift wrap. We saw a peek of the gorgeous window display that’s up right now at Seaside Papery over on Instagram and just had to see more! Check out the amazing display that Jori and her team created — fluttering butterflies, glowing paper lanterns, papel picado and our favorite: an inspired dress made out of paper roses! The dress features a variety of papers in shades of pink, red, and papaya, including our Jute double-sided gift wrap.
