Green seems to be one of the colors of the season! This is an inspired customization of our Aberdeen save the date — perfect in espresso and clover inks. The font is our exclusive Smock Spencerian — a font based on our favorite calligrapher’s penmanship. This save the date was sent to us by our friends at Black Ink.

One of our Chicago stores, Magnificent Milestones, hosted an Ecouture night recently at their really beautiful West Loop location (partly to announce the arrival of Smock at their store!). We printed the letterpress invitations for the evening on our bamboo paper (they choose the Cavall design). Greg Christian Catering (who specializes in green, local, sustainable and organic cuisine) supplied the food. See more pictures from the night here. Lovely!

So it turns out our letterpress wedding invitation designs can make perfect baby announcements too. This is a too sweet customization of Sutton — dreamed up by Paces Paper in Atlanta, Georgia. We are in love!
Smock note: we’re excited that our designer Amy Graham Stigler will be sharing her inspiration every Friday here on this blog. Amy has been an inspiration to us every day for many years now, so we’re glad you’ll get a chance to know her better too. xo, Smock
I’m not sure if its good precedent to start my first entry with a cheat. But I will nonetheless. This week it’s the three things i love: my beautiful, inquisitive & (at this very moment) screeching children. Each one a source of endless inspiration and constant diversion. So gone are the days of uninterrupted contemplation and perfectionist tweaking. Good bye. (Good riddance). Now my days are filled with pancake breakfasts, bedtime stories and kissed knees.

Check out the November 2008 issue of Lucky to see Smock’s Delft letterpress note cards. Lucky writes, “With the goal of creating stationery as eco-conscious as it is gorgeous, Smock makes paper from sustainable bamboo grown without pesticides in Thailand, that’s printed using vegetable oil-based inks. What’s more, the whole company is wind-powered and carbon-neutral.” Check out the magazine to get 25% off anything on our web site (wedding samples + anything in social — the discount doesn’t apply to our custom wedding invitations though).

Check out the fall/winter 2008 issue of Brides New York magazine to see our Aberdeen letterpress invitation. Brides New York writes, “The stylish invitations from this Syracuse-based letterpress studio are printed on paper made from pesticide-free bamboo fibers. (Smock is the first company in the U.S. to do this.) The 12-suite wedding collection, designed by Amy Graham Stigler (formerly of Snow & Graham), features a range of playful yet elegant styles–from floral motifs to bold flourishes and patterns–that work for both casual and formal affairs. Every design can be personalized with different ink colors, fonts, and patterned envelope liners….”

These first birthday party invitations were dreamed up by one of our client coordinators here (mom is Andrea, son is Maddox). Andrea used our favorite calligrapher (Debi Zeinert from the Blooming Quill) to write out the invitation in Debi’s “Whimsy” style, using a matching green ink. The envelopes were addressed with matching calligraphy too. So cute and sophisticated and cute!
Smock has had some nice mentions in the world lately, including Ideal Bite (the eco Daily Candy); Frolic; and Doucette Duvall.

We recently printed our Rhon design in our grass ink + pewter and we love it. See the original Rhon in Verbena yellow. Ever since we launched Smock at the Stationery Show in May, this design has been everyone’s darling.
