Letterpressed Dawson Suite Looking Flashy in Orchid Ink

We were overjoyed to print this unique and flashy one color Dawson suite.   Submitted by our friends at RSVP in Plymouth, Michigan – this playful and chic set features just a few of the cool embellishments Smock has to offer.  Our orchid ink helps make this set look royal, while still maintaining the modern feel.  We’ve offset the back of the invitations and reception cards in our polka pattern in lime ink, which cleverly matches back to the dots on the invitation.

Guest Post: DIY Hand-Lettered Invitations on Smock Lettersheets from Rock Paper Scissors!

Today’s guest post comes from Lisa at Rock Paper Scissors in Ann Arbor, Michigan and features some amazing birthday party invitations that were made with our nautical lettersheets!

At Rock Paper Scissors, we get REALLY excited about celebrations. We love everything about them: from the paper, to the place settings, to the details (and even the gift wrapping!). We also have a huge obsession with all things nautical. So this month, when Rock Paper Scissors teammate and craft aficionado, Coco, turned 21 and set sail to create the PERFECT nautical 21st birthday party—we went overboard with excitement! She chose the Oxford, Ridley and Anchor patterned Smock lettersheets with beautiful blue and nautical prints on the back and rope and anchor watermark details on the front that went perfectly with the nautical theme of her 21st birthday dinner!
Nautical party invitations with hand lettering

Here’s how she did it:

  1. Using a fine tip blue marker, she wrote out the details of the event in fun styles on plain computer paper.
  2. She then scanned her design and used Photoshop to scale it to the proper size.
  3. After adjusting her computer’s printer settings to accommodate the size of the stationery, she simply fed the stationery sheets into her printer to create perfectly printed, customized invitations.
  4. To complete the look, she dolled up the envelopes with rubber stamps in nautical designs and bedecked them with the addresses of her hopeful attendees.
  5. Dropped them in the {SNAIL} mail and waited for her guest’s reactions!

The party itself was decked out in Smock goodies—from the birthday present from her parents (using Smock’s double-sided Oxford gift wrap) and the cupcake liners (also using the gift wrap), Courtney’s party sent us sailing! We love this custom, hand-lettered invite and party details and can’t wait  for the next opportunity to celebrate EVERYTHING with creative paper goods! DIY nautical party invites, nautical cupcakes and nautical gift wrap!

Thanks so much to Lisa for sharing this fabulous DIY project and nautical party with us! Have a creative DIY project of your own that features Smock products? Send it to us today!

Dawson Design – Formality in Three Colors

This delicate and effervescent Dawson letterpress suite is one of the most beautiful customizations we’ve seen done to this design.  Wedding invitations should truly set the tone for the big day and should convey the formality and feel of the upcoming nupitals.  With that said we feel that this set is spot on – the inkless blind deboss creates the most perfect and refined backdrop.  Silver and lavender, two more soft ink colors keep this suite traditional.  Offset belly bands that include the couple’s initials inside a cartouche is a fabulous finishing touch!  We’d like to give our thanks to our friends at Westwood Paper Company in Carmel, Indiana for sending us this charming set.

Romantic Die-Cut Letterpressed Wedding Invitations in Whisper + Taupe

Our wonderful friend Katy at The Inviting Place in Tulsa, Oklahoma sent us this stunning letterpress wedding set for printing.  The softer color palette makes for a very pretty wedding invitation and we think you’ll agree this set is flawless.  Of course the die-cut adds more of a modern feel to the invitation, but the romance is definitely alive.  We’ve noticed that neutral color palettes have been popular this wedding season – and this just happens to be another set we’ve fallen head over heels in love with.

Eggplant + Spring Inks on our Engadine Design

Our Engadine design looks absolutely regal letterpressed in our eggplant and spring inks. Submitted to us by our friends at Christie in Manhattan Beach, California, we were especially thrilled to see these come off press because this set is pure perfection. The offset back pattern on the invitation matches the envelope lining perfectly – helping to maintain the modern feel of this suite.
