We are obsessed with hand edge painting (or edging) over here at Smock. Black letterpress ink, white bamboo paper, and pure blue edge painting — it’s what we dream about! We think edge painting is going to be a big trend for this upcoming wedding season — for good reason too. It’s such a elegant, classical, but cool way to add color to your letterpress wedding invitations. Also big for the upcoming wedding season: calligraphy (or calligraphy accurate fonts, like our only-available-at-Smock Spencerian font used here). Pictured below are additional letterpress pieces from our Haddington wedding invitation suite: save the dates, menus, and a letterpress wedding program cover, all printed in a rich black letterpress ink.
We loved seeing the Vettore design in spring green + midnight — what an elegant letterpress save the date! Sent to us by Union Street Papery in San Francisco.
We love these colors for a letterpress save the date! The Rhon design in pewter and raspberry, plus our Smock calligraphy Clermont font. The two color letterpress envelope is really, really, really special too. And why shouldn’t the envelope be a keepsake? Sent to us by Francis Orr in Corona Del Mar, California.
Green seems to be one of the colors of the season! This is an inspired customization of our Aberdeen save the date — perfect in espresso and clover inks. The font is our exclusive Smock Spencerian — a font based on our favorite calligrapher’s penmanship. This save the date was sent to us by our friends at Black Ink.
We love this tiny save the date! It’s the sweet size of reply or reception cards and, beside being elegantly adorable, it’s also less expensive than larger save the dates. Dreamed up by Wordshop & client in Denver, Colorado. Engadine design, printed in tangerine & moss inks.
This save the date came from our friends at Real Card Company in Seattle. Inks are dove + eggplant, with the Ledon pattern printed on back in midnight. This is a custom design based on one of our “About Smock” cards–who knew it would make such a lovely save the date?
